Frequently Asked Questions

What the membership is, how a circle works on WhatsApp, and where the money goes.

About +Care

What is +Care?

A health membership that runs in small groups. Twenty dollars a month gets you a circle on WhatsApp hosted by a creator you already follow, the +Care concierge for the questions you would rather put to a person than a search box, and member pricing on labs, wearables, therapy, and coverage for the big stuff.

How much does it cost?

Twenty dollars a month, month to month. That is the whole membership. The things you can buy through it, like labs or coverage for major medical, have their own prices, and your membership is what gets you the member rate on them.

Why does health need community?

Because health is not only about paying bills. It is someone to text when you are anxious about a procedure, someone who already had the scan you are dreading, and someone who knows what it actually cost them. That part has never had a good home, so most people carry it alone.

How is this different from Patreon?

Patreon sells access to a creator and their work. Here the creator is who you are in the room with, and what you are paying for is the room, the concierge, and the member pricing. The creator makes the group worth being in; they are not the product.

Your circle

What is a circle?

A private group on WhatsApp of people who joined through the same creator. Inside it, the stack, labs, and coverage for the big stuff each have a room of their own, and the +Care concierge is in every one of them.

Why join through a creator rather than on my own?

You land among people who already have something in common, which is most of what makes a room worth posting in. Joining through a creator is also the only way in at the moment. If none of the open circles is yours, the waitlist is the other door.

How involved is the creator?

It varies, and they are usually not the one answering. A creator opens the circle and shows up in it the way they show up anywhere else, which for some is often and for others is rarely. The concierge answers the questions. Nothing you need depends on a creator being online.

What if the creator I follow is not here?

Join the waitlist and tell us who you would want. We reach out to the people our members ask for, and that list is genuinely how we decide who to approach next.

Can I switch circles, or be in more than one?

One circle per membership today. If you want to move to a different one, message us and we will move you.

How it works on WhatsApp

Where does the circle actually live?

On WhatsApp. No new app and no new login. That is why checkout asks for the phone number you use WhatsApp on: it is how we know which join request is yours and approve it quickly.

Who can see my phone number?

The other people in the group, the same as any WhatsApp group. Your profile name and number are visible to them, so join from the number you are comfortable with. Your creator does not get your details from us; they see how many people joined, not who.

Is it moderated?

Yes. +Care runs the rooms against published guidelines and a person is responsible for each one. The point is a place where asking an unglamorous question is normal, which takes active tending rather than a code of conduct nobody reads.

Do I have to post?

No. Most people read for a while first, and plenty stay quiet and use the concierge in a one to one chat instead. Both count as using it properly.

The concierge

What is the +Care concierge?

The place to send the health thing you have been putting off. You get back what your options are, what each one costs, what the free or cheaper version is, and what is worth doing first. If the answer is that you need to see someone, we help you work out who and what it will cost before you book.

Can it tell me what my results mean?

It will tell you what a test measures, what the usual ranges are, and what is worth asking next. Reading your particular numbers is a clinician's job, and we will help you get in front of one, including what that visit will cost you.

Do you make money on what you recommend?

Sometimes, and where we do we say so on the offer itself. We also name the free or cheaper option next to every paid one, because a recommendation you cannot check is not worth much.

Coverage and money

Does this replace my health insurance?

+Care is a membership, not insurance, and it does not provide medical care. Plenty of members have no plan and some keep theirs, and the membership helps either way. For coverage of surgery, the ER, and hospital stays, health sharing through CrowdHealth is available at member pricing.

What is CrowdHealth?

An independent health-sharing community. Members pay a set amount each month into a shared pool, and large bills are funded from it. It is not insurance and it is not part of +Care, which is why you sign up with them directly. Their pricing varies by age and household and is on their own site.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

CrowdHealth sets its own rules there, and some conditions carry a waiting period. Their FAQ is the place to check, or ask their team about your specific situation before you count on it.

Can my family join?

Your membership covers you. If you want your household in the circle as well, message us and we will sort it out. CrowdHealth prices coverage by household size, so that side is handled when you sign up with them.

Practical

Can I cancel?

Any time, from the email you signed up with. Month to month, no enrollment windows, and nothing to sit through on a phone call.

Is there an annual plan?

Not today. Twenty dollars a month, no long-term contract. Monthly matches how health actually arrives, and it keeps us honest: you re-decide every month whether this is worth it.

How do I get started?

Pick a creator from the directory, tap Join, and complete the twenty dollar checkout. The next page has one button that opens their circle on WhatsApp, and we approve you from the number you gave. If the circle you want is not open yet, leave your email and we will tell you when it is.
