Everything you need to know about +Care, creator circles, and how it all works.
What is +Care?
+Care is a community layer built around health sharing. When you join, you get access to a creator's circle (a private community of like-minded people) plus the broader +Care Town Square. It's where members support each other—not just with medical expenses, but with the everyday moments too.
What's the difference between +Care and CrowdHealth?
+Care handles community. CrowdHealth handles major medical. +Care ($20/mo) gives you access to creator circles and Town Square—real people who show up for each other. CrowdHealth ($60+/mo, activated separately) is the health sharing platform that covers major medical expenses. Together, you get coverage + community.
Why do I need community with my health coverage?
Because health isn't just about paying bills. It's someone to text when you're anxious about a procedure. A meal train when you're recovering. Advice from people who've been through similar situations. Insurance will never cover that—but community does.
How much does +Care cost?
+Care membership is $20/month. This covers your access to your creator's circle and Town Square. CrowdHealth coverage is activated separately and starts at $60/month (varies by age and family size).
What is a creator circle?
A creator circle is a private community organized around a specific creator, influencer, or thought leader you trust. When you join +Care through a creator, you're joining their circle—a group of people who share similar values and interests. It's more intimate than a massive anonymous group.
Why join through a creator instead of directly?
Joining through a creator means you're entering a community of people who already have something in common—you all follow and trust the same person. It creates a warmer, more connected experience than joining a generic health plan. Plus, your creator may offer exclusive content, events, or engagement within the circle.
Do I get to interact with the creator?
It depends on the creator. Some are highly active in their circles, hosting AMAs, sharing exclusive content, and engaging directly. Others take a lighter touch. Each creator runs their circle differently—check their page to get a sense of their involvement.
What if my favorite creator isn't on +Care yet?
You can join through any creator that resonates with you, or join a community circle (fan-organized groups for popular figures). Want to see a specific creator on +Care? Let them know—or tell us and we'll reach out.
Can I switch circles later?
Yes. While you'll always have access to Town Square, you can request to join a different creator's circle if your interests change. We want you in a community that feels right.
Can I join multiple circles?
Right now, each membership is tied to one creator's circle. You'll have access to their private community plus the shared Town Square where all +Care members connect. We're exploring ways to let members join additional circles in the future—if that's something you'd want, let us know.
What is Town Square?
Town Square is the broader +Care community that all members can access, regardless of which creator circle they're in. It's where you connect across circles, share resources, and participate in community-wide discussions and mutual aid.
What actually happens in the community?
Members share health wins and struggles, ask for advice, offer support, and organize mutual aid. You might see someone asking for meal recommendations post-surgery, another sharing a great cash-pay doctor, or a thread celebrating someone's recovery. It's real human connection around health and life.
What if I don't use Slack?
Our community currently lives on Slack because it's easy to use and works great for real-time conversation. If you're new to Slack, don't worry—it's straightforward, and we'll help you get set up. We may expand to other platforms in the future based on member feedback.
Is the community moderated?
Yes. We maintain community guidelines to keep spaces supportive and respectful. Creators help moderate their circles, and the +Care team oversees Town Square. We're building a culture of mutual aid, not a free-for-all.
Does this replace my health insurance?
CrowdHealth is not insurance—it's a health cost sharing community. Many members use it as their primary coverage, but whether it replaces insurance depends on your situation. Some states (CA, NJ, MA, VT, RI, DC) have minimum essential coverage requirements where you may need additional coverage.
Do I need my own health insurance as well?
Not necessarily. CrowdHealth covers major medical expenses through community contributions. However, it's a personal decision based on your health needs, risk tolerance, and state requirements. Many members find it sufficient; others keep a supplemental plan for peace of mind.
What medical expenses does CrowdHealth cover?
CrowdHealth covers major medical expenses like surgeries, hospital stays, ER visits, imaging, and lab work. For expenses over $500, you submit to the community for crowdfunding. They also provide tools to negotiate cash-pay rates and find affordable care. Check CrowdHealth's site for full details.
Are pre-existing conditions covered?
CrowdHealth has specific guidelines around pre-existing conditions. Some may have waiting periods, others may be covered after a certain time. We recommend checking their FAQ or speaking with their team for your specific situation.
Can my family join?
Yes. CrowdHealth offers family plans, and your family members would be part of your +Care community access. Pricing varies by family size—you can see options during the CrowdHealth activation step.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. +Care is month-to-month with no long-term contracts. You can cancel your membership anytime. CrowdHealth has its own cancellation terms—typically also flexible, but check their policies directly.
